Hydration and Drinking Water
Employer Provided Water
Your employer is required to provide you with drinking water while working. This requirement includes:
- Readily Available: Your employer must ensure that cool, drinkable water is always available. Water stations should be placed throughout the worksite, especially near work and break areas.
- Sufficient Quantity: There should be enough water for each worker to drink at least one quart (32 ounces) per hour. Workers should frequently consume small quantities of water, about 12 ounces (0.35 liter) every 20 minutes, instead of drinking larger amounts less often, such as a full quart at the end of every hour.
- Easy Access: Water stations should be easy to find and access, making it simple for you to drink water frequently throughout the day.
- Regular Refills: Employers should regularly check and refill the water stations to ensure there's always enough drinking water for everyone.
