Inspections

The crane standard requires a variety of inspections to ensure equipment is in a safe condition.

Inspect visible wire rope during pre-shift inspection.

Crane equipment and wire rope inspections are required each shift, monthly, and annually.

The following special inspections are required in particular circumstances:

  • post-assembly inspections,
  • pre- and post-erection inspections of tower cranes
  • equipment used in severe service,
  • equipment not in regular use,
  • inspections of certain modified equipment, and
  • inspections of certain repaired/adjusted equipment.
