643 Developing a COVID Prevention Program (CPP)
Skip to main content

COVID Prevention Program Elements

Depending on local, state, and federal regulations, your company may be required to establish and implement an effective written COVID-19 Prevention Program (CPP). The primary goal of the CPP is to control exposures to the SARS-CoV-2 virus that may occur in your workplace.

The CPP can help the company survive.

Every safety program should be designed to meet structural and performance requirements, including:

  • a statement of support and commitment by top management;
  • a vision statement that describes why the program is important and who benefits from it;
  • a mission statement that describes the purpose, goals, and objectives of the program;
  • a written action plan composed of elements, each containing specific safety policies, processes, procedures, practices, guidelines, and rules;
  • resources in terms of time and money that support the program;
  • responsibility assigned to management and staff to manage various program elements;
  • authority is given to management and staff to carry out the program elements;
  • accountability established for those who have been assigned responsibility and given authority;
  • regular analysis and improvement of the performance of the written plan is conducted; and
  • instruction and training are conducted for all management and employee personnel.
