ERW Site Solutions is a Texas-based construction services company providing a wide range of site solutions, including retaining walls, hardscape, landscaping, irrigation, concrete, and site development services. With approximately 450 employees, the company understands that building a strong safety culture is essential in a high-risk industry like construction.
For Sean Leach, Safety Director at ERW Site Solutions, workplace safety is about more than meeting requirements. It is about making sure every employee goes home in the same condition they arrived, or better.
“The most important reason is ensuring that every employee goes home in the same condition they arrived, or better. Construction is high-risk, and a strong safety culture helps prevent injuries, illnesses, and fatalities by making safe behaviors the norm rather than the exception,” Leach said.
At ERW Site Solutions, employee involvement is a key part of the company’s safety program. Safety is not viewed as something driven only by management or the safety department. Instead, it is owned by everyone across the organization.
Employees take part in hazard identification and reporting, pre-task planning, safety meetings, toolbox talks, incident and near-miss investigations, stop work authority, safety training, proper use of safety equipment and PPE, and the continued development of the company’s safety culture.
This shared responsibility supports ERW Site Solutions’ “Own Your Safety” initiative, which encourages employees at every level to take an active role in protecting themselves and their coworkers.
OSHAcademy training helps ERW Site Solutions build safety knowledge and competency throughout the organization. Employees are generally completing the 10-hour and 30-hour Construction Safety and Health programs, while some leaders have completed the 130-hour Construction Safety and Health Specialist program.
“OSHAcademy training helps us build safety knowledge and competency while supporting our ‘Own Your Safety’ initiative,” Leach said. “It also creates consistency across all divisions, supports regulatory compliance, and helps us develop future leaders.”
For ERW Site Solutions, safety is a core value, not just a requirement. The company is committed to protecting its people, property, and projects while investing in employee training and development. By empowering employees to take ownership, focusing on prevention, and holding itself accountable, ERW Site Solutions continues to build long-term partnerships rooted in trust, performance, and safety.
OSHAcademy would like to recognize ERW Site Solutions for their continued efforts toward workplace safety and health.
