Define Program Objectives
Clearly defined program objectives allow top management to set expectations for managers, supervisors, and workers.
Objectives should focus on specific actions that will improve hygiene and prevent illness within your organization.
Write Clear Objectives
Make sure hygiene and illness prevention objectives are realistic and measurable. If you can't measure the outcome of an objective, how will you know if it is working? Goals should focus on proactive outcomes that prevent injuries and illnesses. They should not focus on reactive outcomes that measure injury or illness rates.
Example Objective: By the end of the first quarter, train all affected employees how to properly disinfect their workstations.
Develop plans to help you achieve your hygiene and illness prevention objectives. Assign specific tasks and responsibilities to individuals with defined timelines. If you assign tasks to a group or committee, make sure a single individual is primarily responsible. This allows you to hold individuals accountable for the work they are assigned.
When developing your plan, be sure to identify the resources you will need to successfully design, implement, operate, monitor, and evaluate your program.
