Remember These Must-Do Actions

Remember, as a supervisor you must determine the surface causes - namely, the hazardous conditions and behaviors - in all incidents and accidents.

It's also important to determine the related root causes, which include any missing or inadequate principles, policies, programs, plans, processes, and procedures that have contributed to the hazardous conditions and unsafe behaviors.

Adequate supervision is defined by the proactive identification and correction of both surface and root causes before they result in injuries.

Successfully carrying out these actions communicates a strong message of commitment and demonstrates tough-caring leadership to your employees.
