11-6. Activity Hazard Analysis (AHA) Requirements.

Development of AHAs

  • Develop Activity Hazard Analyses (AHAs) as per the relevant paragraphs, ensuring the inclusion of tasks, number of people, and safety measures for electrical equipment work.

Electrical Safety in AHAs

  • Identify electrical hazards, boundary distances, and include both shock and arc flash risk assessments for tasks posing such hazards.
  • Document Health, Environment, and Control (HEC) procedures like Lockout/Tagout (LOTO), clearance, and switching, along with Electrical Personal Protective Equipment (PPE) requirements.
  • Address health and environmental considerations, particularly for hazardous materials and challenging environments.

Operational Procedures and Emergency Preparedness

  • Ensure the use of Elevated Work Platform Equipment (EEWP) when required, and implement personal insulating and grounding methods.
  • Prepare temporary power system sketches, obtain approval from the Authority Having Jurisdiction (AHJ), and identify competent persons for rescue and emergency medical situations.
  • Outline emergency procedures, especially when the "two-person rule" is applicable, and manage access to restricted locations with documented approval attached to the AHA daily.
