According to Luke Norman, the Clinical Education Coordinator of the Physical Therapist Assistant Program, it is essential students in this program receive Bloodborne Pathogens and HIPAA training before participating in their required clinical sessions. After completing this required training, students then complete four clinical sessions in a variety of settings.
Physical Therapist Assistant students are not permitted to go out on their required clinicals until they complete their assigned OSHAcademy HIPAA and Bloodborne Pathogens training and have their certificates on file. "In order to protect them, students need to know regulations," Norman adds. "It’s an expectation that whoever is accepting students for clinicals knows the students are trained." Norman adds that as a healthcare program, they are held to a higher standard. “There is no room for error when working with patients,” he added.
OSHAcademy would like to recognize Bryant & Stratton College for their continued efforts toward workplace safety and health.
